It was in 1988, when I decided to go to Nepal for the first
time. We opted for the 13-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp. After a few days in Kathmandu we took an old bus and drove from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We put our backpacks on top of the roof and
enjoyed the ride as good as possible. In Pokhara we hired a guide and a porter. They organized a jeep that brought us to the starting point in Dhampus. We passed by Birethanti , Ulleri ,
Ghodepani , Chhomro and after six days we finally reached Annapurna Base Camp . A magnificent panorama of the four Annapurna peaks and Machhapuchare, who was never climbed, compensated us for the
efforts and the very cold night in a simple lodge.
